New Projection Opportunities Could Power Significant Future Growth
May 22, 2006 - Unit sales of rear projection TVs and front projectors for business and consumers are all growing. But PDPs and LCDs are growing faster giving the impression that projection is lagging. But with new technology innovations, projection is poised to create whole new product categories that could enable markets with sales in the millions. These exciting opportunities are the focus of the "New Projection Markets" session at Projection Summit, June 5-6 in Orlando, Florida, just prior to the opening of the InfoComm Exhibition.
So what are the opportunities?
- LED-based Rear-Projection TV
- LED-based Pocket Projectors
- Very Low Cost (<$300) Projectors
- Laser Projectors for TVs to Cinemas
- Laser Projectors embedded in cell phones, PDAs or media players
- New Projection Solutions for Vertical Markets
The "New Projection Markets" session will run on Tuesday, June 6 from 8:15am to 10:40am and will be moderated by Bill Coggshall of Pacific Media Associates. Speakers include experts on the development of these new market opportunities:
- Frank DeMartin, Mitsubishi Electric: Laser projection TV opportunity
- Dr. James F. Shanley, SCRAM Technologies: Can rear-projection succeed in new markets like cockpits, marine and digital signage?
- Dr. Nic Lawrence, Light Blue Optics: Nano-projectors
- Jong-Tae Lim, Ph.D., Samsung: Opportunities for LED TVs and Laser TVs
- Matthew Brennesholtz, Insight Media: Very-low cost projector opportunities
Speakers will discuss technology innovations behind these new market categories; trends that will help propel their adoption and the business models needed for each to grow into million-unit-plus segment categories. This is a not-to-miss session and a great opportunity for attendees to hear from leaders in this segment and to engage with them in a robust discussion via a panel debate. We expect this panel debate to be lively and interesting.
